Update June 20. 2008
Our list is getting longer . . . slowly but surely the numbers
are coming in fast! And wouldn't you know it - close to 30 of our
teachers have made their confirmation to come. I guess it's their
re-union too, as much as it is ours!
Some important news about your payment next: as technologically
advance as we are, I'm afraid at this stage, we have gone into manual
mode. But I suppose sometimes we have to make do with what we have. Let
me explain:
When you fax in your acknowledgment slip to either Amardas or Whye
Yong, they will then have to send me confirmation of that receipt
before I can post it up here. Therein lies the bottleneck and there
could be a lag of a couple of days here. So do bear with us.
It is absolutely crucial that you contact us
if you have made your payment, but do not see your name in the list . .
. could lead to a lot of anxious moments on the night of July 12th, if
that is not corrected on time. I don't need to elaborate here; but
suffice to say, if we all want to have an enjoyable stress-free
evening, let's not invite hitches. Tell us which day it was that you
made your payment.
BTW, Amardas tells me that there are a few of you who have made
the payments into his account, but have not faxed in their slips.
Please do so soonest possible. Again, we wish to avoid any embarrassing
moments at the registration table on the night of the Big Event.
Maybe you should bring along the original copy of your bank-in slip, just in case . . .
nahhhhh, I'm just kidding! See you guys in the 12th!

Update June 12. 2008
If you were to look at the list at the left panel, you'd notice
that it's much "shorter". Well, that's because it's now a list of
guests who have paid.
But if you have, and don't see your name there, do let me know. By
now, you must have received our instructions for payment. If you
haven't, please scroll down and update yourself.
I'm sure we're all looking forward to July 12 and getting
together, some for the first time in 30 years! Long time, I know, but
there may not be another gathering of this size again.
So do confirm your place and we'll see you there!

Update May 27. 2008
Lissenup yawll! A word from Secretary of the Organising Committee:
Hello
After three long months of hardwork and encouragement from each other we finally manage to rope in 72 of our class or schoolmates to sign up for the reunion on 12th July. Together
with some of us who would be introducing our spouses and not forgetting
teachers who will be attending the reunion, the committee is expecting
a turn-up of about 120. Well a good start & we can now confirm the
reunion will indeed take place.
Venue of function :
Hotel Equatorial Malacca, Oasis On The Fourth
1900hrs, Saturday, 12th July 2008
Based
on this number, the committee has worked forward and decided to charge
an amount of Rm130/= per person for this function. This would basically
cover the following:-
(a) Buffett dinner;
(b) Free flow of drinks;
(c) Souveniors for those attending; and
(d) Absorbing teachers cost (on us)
In
arriving at this cost, the committee has also made the assumption that
we will have a minimum paxs of 100 during that night which is what the
hotel is charging. Any excess after deducting actual expenses, we do
not believe will be much, will be contributed to a charitable
organization which we will open for suggestion during the dinner. On
the contrary any shortfall, just in case we have last minute pull outs,
would result in us passing round the hat to seek for some contributions
from our fellow friends that night.
In
short, the dinner is all about fellowship, with class and schoolmates
we have not met, our other half we would like our pals to know and not
forgetting teachers whom we have lost touch since we left school in
1975 or 1977. The cost we are charging here is near to no frills other
than the souveniors which we thought is something we will remember and
cherish after this event.
As
we are expected to pay upfront 50% of the dinner cost by end June ‘08,
we would very much appreciate for those who have signed up to pay up
this Rm130/= per pax to confirm your attendance before 15th June ’08. You can do the committee a big favour by banking in cash or cheque, we prefer CASH, to the following bank account
[deleted for security reasons. Please send me an email for account details. TQ]
thereafter, can you kindly write your name on the bank’s acknowledgement slip and have this fax to
(a) Amardas +606-284 7597; or
(b) Ho Whye Yong +603-5514-9928
OR have the receipt scan and forward to
(a) Amardas
(b) Ho Whye Yong
Depending
on which account you have bank the cash or cheque, Amardas or myself
where relevant will drop you a note to acknowledge receipt. As there is
still plenty to be done by the committee to the run up, I would
appreciate if the money can be banked into the mention accounts without
us having to send out chasers latest by mid-June ’08.
The committee do look forward to your cooperation in closely following
the instructions here so as to avoid any additional and unnecessary
administrative & unproductive time in having to reconcile these
bank-ins. The committee has also decided that prove of
bank-in slip is proof of receipt for this Rm130/= and a confirmation
that you will attend the dinner. Please be reminded that any
cancellations after the bank-in would be treated as your kind
contribution towards funding this event.
The committee is also organizing a golf game in the morning of July 12th, at Tiara Melaka Golf & Country Club, tee-off time 0900 hrs for would be Tigers, amateurs
but not professionals. Fong Ngan Teng has gladly volunteered himself to
be the Captain for the game and those that are keen to join in the
morning session, a prelude to the evening function, kindly drop me a
note for registration. Green fees, buggy and insurance for non-members
is about Rm150/= per person. For those who are affiliate members to
Tiara, kindly make necessary arrangement to present your letter on that
day and also inform me when confirming your participation. Green fees
cost and others will be settled after the game.
In summary, to confirm your attendance for this function,
(a) Kindly bank in Rm130/= per pax into either the account of [deleted for security reasons. Please send me an email for account details. TQ ]
(b) Write your name on the bank receipt and have this fax or scan to
Amardas +606-284 7597; j_das04@yahoo.com or
Ho Whye Yong +603-5514 9928; howhyeyong@yahoo.com
(c) Amardas or myself depending whose account you bank in will sms or email acknowledgement of receipt
Please take note that any cancellations after bank-in will be treated as a generous contribution from you towards the function
On behalf of committee, cheers
Whye Yong
Update May 13. 2008
It's always great when you hear of someone from a faraway land
coming home to attend a re-union, and not surprisingly, I read with
happy exitement that our friend from Canada, Steven Lee Tong Fah, is
making flight arrangements!
Really great news, Steven! Look forward to meeting up with you.
Also the Notice Board has been sounding very loudly with contributions from all over. Thanks to all you guys for making it lively.
We also need more of you to send in your current photos.
If you're wondering about the confirmed guest list, well here's
coming from the horse's mouth - we're over the 80 mark as of today.
Hussin's count of 68 does not include spouses and partners. So be sure
to allocate a lot of time in between dishes to mingle and catch up!
Steven Lee also suggested meeting one day before the event to
"warm up", and I say, why not. While still on the subject, why don't we
arrange for a visit to our alma mater the following day. Wouldn't it be
great if we can also visit our old primary school?
I can show you where my classes were, from Std 1 to Std 6!!!

Update Apr 21. 2008
We're also in The Star today.
Monday April 21, 2008
Calling 50-year-old Malacca High School alumni
A group of students from Malacca High School who turn 50 this year has decided to celebrate the occasion.
As
such, the group is trying to contact Malacca High classmates and
schoolmates who were in Form 5 in 1975 and Upper Six in 1977.
The group is organising a reunion dinner for this particular batch of students on July 12 at the Equatorial Hotel in Malacca.
“We
decided to hold the dinner this year because we don’t think many of us
will be around in another 50 years,” said Ho Whye Yong, general manager
Asia-Pacific of MK Electric and a member of the organising committee.
Those
in the batch of 1975/77 who are interested in attending the dinner or
re-establishing ties can contact Ho (012-221 2638), Abdul Razak Hitam
(012-213 4213), or Amardas (012- 638 5945).
Malacca High is one of the oldest schools in the country and turns 182 this year.
